Real Wedding: Matt + Jennifer

I got an email from Jennifer for the first time in March, Amanda at Cumberland Falls had given her my info as she lived in Chicago so things would be logistically tough.  We did the initial consultation on the phone and the remaining communication was through email and I met Matt & Jennifer 6 months later on their wedding day!  The thing I loved about Jenn was when she would ask for my recommendations on cake, flowers, etc. she didn’t hesitate.  I would send her pictures of examples of work so that she would feel confident with those vendors and again, they will did a fabulous job.  She told me in the beginning that she didn’t want a photographer.  I’ve never had a Bride tell me that and it concerned me for a whole lot of reasons.  Of course, I knew it would concern Wes Brown too.  So I sent him a message and told him about their ceremony/reception style and that we wouldn’t need anything super crazy, so of course he customized a 2 hour wedding package just for them.  Matt & Jenn couldn’t refuse it – hence, the fabulous pictures.

Jenn wanted her bouquet to have a “farmer’s market feel” to it – as if she were getting married at home and she went that morning to buy the flowers at the market.  They also had a treat bar at the wedding, as all of the guests were driving back to Chicago, they didn’t want them to get hungry on the way back.  Although Matt & Jenn’s wedding was ‘simple’ – it was stunning and it fit their personality perfectly!

Real Wedding: Taylor + Michael

Although I’ve done several blogs on Taylor & Michael’s wedding I haven’t done the ‘official’ one yet. September 24, 2011 was mid 70s and sunny, equivalent to everything I requested from the good Lord above..  The day literally came together perfectly and I couldn’t of been happier.  Michael and Taylor are just such awesome people and deserved the world on their wedding day.

We started the vow renewal at 5:30 followed by family pictures, bridal party entrance and dinner. We had many things jam packed into the evening, including a picture of guns with the bride, groom and family members, they had a send off on her grandpa’s Harley and then finished with a grape stomping. I wish Taylor & Michael a life of happiness and think we’ll pretty much need to do a vow renewal every year.

Ashley + Roy

ido is looking forward to working another wedding with Kellie Carter Photography in November.  It’ll be a great way to finish a fabulous year.   Ashley said the way they chose the official wedding date of 11/19 is between there’s a 1911 gun so Roy would never forget their anniversary. LOL.  Just wanted to share a sneak peek from their engagement session!

Taylor’s Wedding Gown(s)

I love hearing about the wedding gown for the first time.  I love seeing the smile on the Bride’s face.  The dress Taylor chose was perfect.

As I mentioned in the last post that Taylor and I typically communicated via email, text or in person and when she called I knew something wasn’t good, but the phone call I got in August was the opposite.  I was headed back to Lexington and it showed up her name on caller-id and I instantly had this gut feeling and was almost scared to answer the call.  When I did, she proceeded to tell me that she had found a second dress for the reception and she couldn’t pass it up and that she was going to get some new boots to wear it. As soon as we hung up, I text Wes (the photographer) because I knew he’d be ecstatic too.

And then… there was one more dress….

Taylor + Michael’s Venue

Over the next few days you’ll get the opportunity to live part of the past 11 months of my life while planning Taylor & Michael’s wedding.  As I sit here and ponder the best way to share the details, I think I am going to start with our venue choice.

Taylor & Michael’s wedding (technically vow renewal) was scheduled for September 17, 2011 at the Barn at Redgate.  When I met with them the first time, the date, location and photographer was all that was set in stone.  As we progressed we booked the caterer, the florist, the cake, video, etc.  I remember thinking some time mid May that I just felt like everything was too good to be true because we had all of the hard stuff done.

Taylor and I typically communicated via email, text or in person.  I was sitting at my desk one Sunday evening and it showed up that she was calling.  I knew something wasn’t right.  As soon as I answered Taylor’s voice was frantic and I had no idea what to expect.

The short version of the story is that Michael is in the Marines and was not going to be able to be away from his duties on the weekend of the 17th, after already having permission over a year ago that he would be.  However, he was told he wouldn’t have to report on the 10th or 24th.  After speaking with her vendors we had already booked, we decided the 24th was the best date.

However, the Barn at Redgate was booked so Taylor and I met with Bill & Debbie at Cave Hill Vineyard and another venue and decided that the Vineyard would probably fit our vision the best.  So, the day we visited the Vineyard Taylor paid her deposit.  Which meant 2 things: we now had a venue and a new date.  Well, I guess it meant 3 things, we had a whole new wedding to plan…
