Taylor’s Wedding Gown(s)

I love hearing about the wedding gown for the first time.  I love seeing the smile on the Bride’s face.  The dress Taylor chose was perfect.

As I mentioned in the last post that Taylor and I typically communicated via email, text or in person and when she called I knew something wasn’t good, but the phone call I got in August was the opposite.  I was headed back to Lexington and it showed up her name on caller-id and I instantly had this gut feeling and was almost scared to answer the call.  When I did, she proceeded to tell me that she had found a second dress for the reception and she couldn’t pass it up and that she was going to get some new boots to wear it. As soon as we hung up, I text Wes (the photographer) because I knew he’d be ecstatic too.

And then… there was one more dress….

Taylor + Michael’s Venue

Over the next few days you’ll get the opportunity to live part of the past 11 months of my life while planning Taylor & Michael’s wedding.  As I sit here and ponder the best way to share the details, I think I am going to start with our venue choice.

Taylor & Michael’s wedding (technically vow renewal) was scheduled for September 17, 2011 at the Barn at Redgate.  When I met with them the first time, the date, location and photographer was all that was set in stone.  As we progressed we booked the caterer, the florist, the cake, video, etc.  I remember thinking some time mid May that I just felt like everything was too good to be true because we had all of the hard stuff done.

Taylor and I typically communicated via email, text or in person.  I was sitting at my desk one Sunday evening and it showed up that she was calling.  I knew something wasn’t right.  As soon as I answered Taylor’s voice was frantic and I had no idea what to expect.

The short version of the story is that Michael is in the Marines and was not going to be able to be away from his duties on the weekend of the 17th, after already having permission over a year ago that he would be.  However, he was told he wouldn’t have to report on the 10th or 24th.  After speaking with her vendors we had already booked, we decided the 24th was the best date.

However, the Barn at Redgate was booked so Taylor and I met with Bill & Debbie at Cave Hill Vineyard and another venue and decided that the Vineyard would probably fit our vision the best.  So, the day we visited the Vineyard Taylor paid her deposit.  Which meant 2 things: we now had a venue and a new date.  Well, I guess it meant 3 things, we had a whole new wedding to plan…

Taylor’s Bridal Shoot

Over the course of the next few weeks you will see several blogs about Taylor & Michael.  I met them Thanksgiving week of last year about 8:30 one evening at the Doolin House.  It was during hunting season because Michael had gotten up super early that morning and evidently wedding talk bored him, so he fell asleep during the initial consult, but I won’t hold that against him, he has been super supportive for Taylor throughout the wedding process.  Over the next few blogs you’ll see some of the challenges we faced during the planning, but the outcome is going to be ridiculously awesome.

Below are some pictures of Taylor from her bridal shoot with Wes Brown Photography.  Taylor wanted a more vintage feel to this pictures because the reception is going to be very modern!  We did this photo session on Labor Day weekend – you remember the 103 degree days, yea, it was one of those!  Taylor was an absolute sport through the entire thing.  We started out at Mill Springs and then ended up behind my family’s farm again.  I can’t forget to mention, another great thing about Taylor, she trusted me.  She went with the Twisted Stem on her florals – and of course Ben didn’t disappoint!!!  As this blog post shows up, Taylor will be walking down the aisle.

Every woman should own 3 pairs of shoes…

It was about this time last year when I had worked a wedding in Lexington for Always Planned.  Being me, I forgot to bring something other than dress shoes to work in, so the day after the wedding I borrowed a pair of flip flops from Rayna and I wasn’t sure I was going to give them back.  When I got home that Sunday night the first thing I did was order 2 pair of these Havaianas flip flops.  I wear them religiously.  Up until about 2 weeks ago I had a gray pair and a navy pair.  The gray pair went mysteriously missing.  Oh well.  I bought three pair to replace that one.  As I was shopping for my new ones, I saw the “BRIDAL’ tab on the website and got all excited!  You must check out their collection!  Not only are they stylish, but they sure make this wedding planner’s feet happy on wedding days!
